OUR STORY 
Trek Bicycle Stores of the Lowcountry are locally owned and operated, working closely with the residents and cycling community in the Lowcountry to change the world one bike at a time! We relish the ability to be a part of such a great area - where outdoor living and mild temperatures combine to make year round biking a reality!

Owner Ben Gruber started cycling in college and hasn’t stopped pedaling!  After graduating from Penn State in 1995 he followed his future wife, Mary Ann, to Chicago and started using his degree in education – teaching in the Chicago Catholic School System.  However, his love affair with the bike was just heating up!  Living in Chicago was a formative part of his life and gave him the opportunity to work in the bike industry during his teaching summer breaks.  He spent time working for a bike rental company, but soon landed at Village Cycle Center – one of the world’s largest Trek Bicycle dealers.  He started as a part time sales associate, but after a few year came on board full time and eventually rose through the ranks to become the store’s General Manager.  The bike bug had bitten, but his family was about to expand – and his desire to own his own store did too!  When the only Trek dealer in Charleston had decided to drop the brand, Trek began looking for someone to fill that void………..and the rest is history!

Today, Ben remains committed to getting others involved in cycling and making the bicycle a part of everyone’s lives. He and his wife Mary Ann are avid cyclists, often leading group rides from the store and enjoy seeing the world by bike.  They love taking their sons, Douglas and William, on trail rides and rides around their neighborhood.  They look forward to a long and enjoyable future in the Lowcountry.

Trek Bicycle Stores of the Lowcountry in Mt. Pleasant, Charleston and Savannah offer something for everyone.  Featuring separate areas devoted to road cycling, mountain biking, and casual riding.  In addition, the store features a dedicated women’s area, with women’s specific bikes, clothing, and gear.

Stroll around our open, spacious showroom, let the kids loose in the kid’s area, and enjoy a fresh-brewed coffee while checking out the latest designs from the highest-quality companies in the cycling industry.

Trek Bicycle Store of Charleston's locations both feature full-service tech centers and experienced technicians qualified to build and repair everything from a 1950s vintage cruiser to the latest and most advanced carbon fiber masterpieces.  We can renovate your old bike and fine-tune your new one. 

For those looking to learn roadside repair or advanced maintenance, we will offer various repair classes for everyone from new riders to experienced gearheads.

A bicycle is no fun if it doesn’t fit.  That’s why we do basic fittings with every bike sale!  Need more help with your bike fit?  No worries, we offer professional fit services to all customers, regardless of riding style.  In addition to taking measurements and matching your bicycle setup to your individual proportions, our professional fit specialists examine flexibility, range of motion, and core strength to make your riding as safe and as comfortable as possible.  The result is a pain-free riding experience without the distraction of discomfort.
